Primary Designs can now offer a greater level of quality and inspection with investment in the latest measurement technology, with a higher degree of accuracy of finished components. Investment in Faro Arm Fusion will allow Primary Designs to inspect, reverse engineer and check jigs and fixtures to a new higher level.
A Formula 1 car or Supercar is a technically advanced exercise in vehicle engineering, whose many parts must be manufactured, to an exceptionally high degree of precision, in particular an F1 exhaust system, Le Mans exhaust system or Supercar exhaust.
As exhaust packaging becomes more complex the challenges continue to grow for the engineers at Primary Designs, with the need for precision jigging systems and the ability to measure exhaust systems being a major factor in exhaust design and manufacture.
Measuring arms, such as a portable Faro Fusion Measuring arm, are one solution to the growing demand for increasing precision in the automotive industry. In addition to the use of the Faro Measuring arm being used in house for accurate inspection, jigging and exhaust manufacture, Primary Designs offer an On-Site measuring service to the Automotive Industry.
Primary Designs can now come to your workshop and produce an envelope in which to package your exhaust, water and oil pipes or roll cage and then transfer this data into CAD files.
The Faro Measuring arm combined with Faro CAM2 Q software will allow us to accurately measure a customer car on site; from this data we will then be able to use TubeExpert and Siemens Solid Edge ST3 to design the optimum exhaust layout, with jigs and fixtures for production. Quality in production begins with accuracy in product measurements. To achieve the highest levels of accuracy, manufacturers were previously forced to measure their parts in a controlled environment using large, expensive coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
