It has required lots of time, thought and development in the design office and engine dyno facility, where engines are tested to simulate Race conditions, often for individual tracks.
Part of this engine evaluation time is used to develop the optimum exhaust layout, which is now considered a vital part of the cars ultimate performance, in terms of engine power and its effect on aerodynamics.
As a family run business, with all three member of the family having hands on experience fabricating and designing exhaust systems we take our relationships with customers very seriously and consider that we offer a considerably more personal service than our competition may offer.
Our highly skilled engineers quite possibly have the most extensive knowledge in producing exceptionally lightweight Inconel, race winning F1 exhaust systems and are passionate in working to what has been expressed by many of our top level F1 customers as the highest possible standard and level of service available.
Often in what is considered impossible timescales, we constantly achieve and surpass our customer’s expectations and work closely with them to ensure we achieve this. As a really flexible company used to working closely with some of the most experienced design engineers and purchasing departments in F1, we can offer consistent quality, supply and solutions to developing new exhaust packages.
This is supported by short lead times in designing and sourcing production tooling, often from a neighbouring CNC tooling manufacturer who has extensive machining capabilities and the ability to laser cut profiles on an exclusive – while you wait basis, again reducing lead times in the manufacture of new developments.
We use the highest quality materials from our well monitored efficient supply chain, some of whom we have had relationships with for many years, all of these accredited suppliers are familiar with the difficulties of sourcing and an have an understanding of the requirements of the high tech materials that are used in current F1 exhaust systems offering a range of materials that may be used in their development.
We operate a very stringent control system of supplied materials and have full traceability through our IS0 9001:2008 quality management system which incorporates the use of Unipoint Quality Management software and a very powerful ERP system JobBoss by Exact Software.
For design work Primary Designs uses Siemens Solid Edge ST6 CAD software,which is from the same family as to Siemens NX as used by some F1 and LeMans teams.
We are also the only exhaust manufacturer in the UK to use TubeExpert exhaust routing CAD software as used by many F1 teams.
With the introduction of new engine rules in 2014 Primary Designs looks forward to the challenge of manufacturing exhaust systems for the next generation of F1 engines and will continue to lead from the front in F1 exhaust Technology and Innovation..
